Hey, thanks for tuning in to this in-depth Lockhart’s Hair Groom review and styling tutorial.
This review is sure to answer any questions that you might have about the product.
To save your guys’ time, I’ll be breaking this review and styling tutorial of Lockhart’s Hair Groom down into a few parts. You can skip to whatever part is most relevant (most likely the product review, so skip about halfway down the page), but I’d hope you stick around for the whole thing! First, I’ll be introducing my own hair type so you guys have a reference point to how this product performs. Then I’ll go into the performance of the product and finish off by teaching how this product will work for other hair types.
My Hair Type
So firstly! My hair type. I’m an Asian guy so I understand the struggle a lot of us go through with poofy hair that loves to stick up. My hair is fairly wavy, and definitely thick. My hair does not like to cooperate despite being wavy & not nearly as stiff as some Asian hair. Once in a certain shape, the only way to make it restyle is to wash my hair with shampoo & conditioner and completely “reset” my hair. Not to mention, it also gets frizzy without quality products that can really nourish my hair to make it as healthy as possible. So, imagine something like the hairstyle above, except dark brown/black.
TL;DR, I have thick, wavy, frizzy Asian hair and I am currently wearing it in a short-medium length forward quiff that was inspired by BluMaan himself! So check out his video on how he styles his short quiff because that’s basically how I do it too.
Lockhart’s Hair Groom Product Review
This review is going to be pretty short because this a simple product that does what it says it will do. Hair groom is more of a hair care, hair treatment kind of product than it is a styling product. It gives a high shine just like a pomade would, but provides very little hold and volume to your hair. It’s basically a blend of many healthy oils and butters to make it a solid, but essentially acts as a hair mask to provide your hair with plenty of useful ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil to nourish and revitalize your hair. The product comes in a reddish brown, slightly translucent jar with a plastic/tin feeling lid; simple packaging that looks like most products in the Lockhart’s product line.
The product itself is a light yellow colour and is firm to scoop out. It has a mild, pleasant lemon scent to it. When emulsifying the product and applying it to the hair, it becomes very oily in the hands and it will make your hair feel fairly oily, and if you are someone who likes to run your hands throughout the hair throughout the day, you will definitely get some of the oiliness on your fingers. It’s definitely a product that should be left alone after being applied.
It does it’s job very well and once you gently wash the product out of hair with a bit of shampoo, the results are noticeable. Consistent use of the product once or twice a week will definitely let you notice your hair becoming softer, healthier, and more manageable. The exact number of times depends on how dry or damaged your hair is, but typically, I’d say using this product once or twice a week should be sufficient for most of us looking to add nourishment back into the hair. If you’ve already got healthy hair, this can be great every once in a while as a nourishing treatment for your hair, just to add a little extra oomph.
It also allows some styling by providing a light hold, with high amounts of shine. Perfect for putting together a slick pomade whilst letting your hair heal and replenish.
Other Hair Types
This product can work for any type of hair. It’s a conditioning hair mask like product that anyone who feels like they have dry, damaged hair can use to help the hair to become softer, smoother, and shinier. The only caveat is that if you have greasy hair, this wouldn’t be the right blend of ingredients to help your scalp tone down it’s natural oil production, but for everyone else, this would be a great way to help your hair become healthier, while getting a very slight hold/ controllability, and a high shine that can let you slick your hair back throughout the day while the product works on nourishing the hair.
This product works well for its intended use. I use it every once in a while as a hair mask when I really want to help my hair to feel extra healthy. If you’re looking for something that’s hair healthy and lightweight that you can use often, I’d recommend a hair oil, like Cloud Control by Blumaan, or a high quality Argan Oil, but if you’re willing to put in some more time and effort to do a hair mask, then I’d highly recommend trying this product out. Final rating, 8.5/10.
