Hey, thanks for tuning in to this in-depth Shear Revival Gray Ghost Cream Pomade review and styling tutorial.
This review is sure to answer any questions that you might have about the product.
To save your guys’ time, I’ll be breaking this review and styling tutorial of Shear Revival Gray Ghost Cream Pomade down into a few parts. You can skip to whatever part is most relevant (most likely the product review, so skip about halfway down the page), but I’d hope you stick around for the whole thing! First, I’ll be introducing my own hair type so you guys have a reference point to how this product performs. Then I’ll go into the performance of the product and finish off by teaching how this product will work for other hair types.
My Hair Type
So firstly! My hair type. I’m an Asian guy so I understand the struggle a lot of us go through with poofy hair that loves to stick up. My hair is fairly wavy, and definitely thick. My hair does not like to cooperate despite being wavy & not nearly as stiff as some Asian hair. Once in a certain shape, the only way to make it restyle is to wash my hair with shampoo & conditioner and completely “reset” my hair. Not to mention, it also gets frizzy without quality products that can really nourish my hair to make it as healthy as possible. So, imagine something like the hairstyle above, except dark brown/black.
TL;DR, I have thick, wavy, frizzy Asian hair and I am currently wearing it in a short-medium length forward quiff that was inspired by BluMaan himself! So check out his video on how he styles his short quiff because that’s basically how I do it too.
Shear Revival Gray Ghost Cream Pomade Review
Gray Ghost comes in Shear Revival’s unique packaging aesthetic. An amber glass jar, tin lid, and matte sticker label. For Gray Ghost, the artwork is a grandfather clock and the jar certainly makes a nice addition to a hair product collection. I love Shear Revival’s packaging; it’s super unique and feels incredibly nice in hand. It’s a minimal, appealing aesthetic and it totally vibes with me.
The product scoops out of the jar incredibly easily. It really does feel like a creamy product. Emulsifying between your palms is effortless, just like applying it to the hair. As a styling product, Gray Ghost is currently one of my favourite products. It’s incredibly easy to use, gives me the results I need, and for the ease of use, it gives great results. That’s one of the things I really look for in a hair product. How easy it is to use, and the final result. If a product can be effortless to use and still provide the result I want, then that’s already a good product in my book.
The finish of this product is fantastic for me. It gives a slight healthy shine, feels pretty lightweight, and gives great texture. The hold is surprisingly good given how light the product feels in the hair. I definitely have no worries about whether my hairstyle will last all day. It’s fantastic for looks that a pomade provides, like a slickback, pompadour, or any overall sleek look. At the same time, the texture it gives allows this product to be used for messy hairstyles as well. Think Brad Pitt’s hairstyle in the movie Fury. This product works amazingly well for that. It really does combine the best of both a cream, and a pomade.
Medium/ Thick Hair
For us guys with medium or thick hair, this is a fantastic product. It gives everything we need for so many hairstyles: texture, hold, versatility, and a healthy finish shine. Definitely a product worth trying for us. Another perk I forgot to mention above is that the product is actually Aloe based, meaning it’s quite healthy for your hair too.
Thin/ Fine Hair
For guys with thin or fine hair, this product can work for more slick and sleek looks. It’ll be a bit tricky building volume with this product so a hairstyle that would typically use a pomade, this product would be great for. This product feels like a hybrid between Original by Blumaan, and Monarch by Blumaan, so if you’ve used those products before, you can imagine how this may work for you. Definitely start with less, and work on adding more to your hair. It’s a versatile product so a little practice and patience could help to make this product work incredibly well for you.
Gray Ghost Cream Pomade is one of my favourite products currently. The lasting, lightweight hold, with great texture and just the right slickness feels and looks perfect. It’s an incredibly easy to use product, another reason why I like it so much. I can slap it in my hair in the morning and be ready to go in under 2 minutes. After that, I go about my day without a worry about whether it’s going to lose hold. It’ll certainly last throughout the day and is a solid product in my arsenal.
